PROGRESSIVE NATURAL HOOFCARE
NHC101 Level I Course
Instructor: Gwenyth Browning Jones Santagate
PENZANCE Progressive Natural Hoofcare

This online course is designed to bring the serious hoofcare student a solid, practical and working knowledge of the Equine Hoof. It is also to empower the average horse owner with the capabilities of knowing just what is best for his or her own horse and being able to actively take part in the hoofcare. Students should have some basic prior knowledge of the Equine hoof before taking this course.  View out online Classroom HERE.

TOPICS INCLUDED IN THIS COURSE:

    • Theory of the Natural Progressive Barefoot Trim
    • Lifestyle of the Natural Horse
    • Feed & Nutrition of the Natural Horse
    • The Natural Trim of the non-pathological Hoof
    • Anatomy of the Hoof and Lower Leg
    • Natural Progressive Horse Handling and Safety
    • Natural & Alternative Remedies and Treatments for the Natural Horse

Each week class meets in our Classroom Chat area during a specific designated time on a designated day for live discussion on the topic of the Week. Transcripts of the discussion are filed for easy referencing for those who can't make the live discussions or wish to merely go along at their own rate of speed. Lessons will be posted online in our online classroom, a "Moodle" program.  All materials will be filed under FILES section along with listings of assignments and quizzes for each week of study. You will be notified of the address and how to access the materials after your registration is accepted.

The entire course will take place over a 10 week period of time. Of course, being an online course, you may go at your own pace but I recommend that you make the effort to keep up so as not to get bogged down with alot of work all at once. In order to complete this course and received your Certificate of Completion, you must finish this particular class within 6 months. If you feel you have fallen behind and simply CANNOT catch up you may email to me with a request to join the next class.

In order to receive your Certificate of Completion you MUST pass this course. It is not a "graded" course but you and I will both know if you put your full effort into it. I never ask that my students be A+ students, so to speak, but I do ask that they try their hardest. My goal is to have each and every person who takes any of the PENZANCE classes or courses to exhibit extreme EXCELLENCE in the topic matter! This means that when you tell someone you are a PENZANCE student or full graduate that the person will know that you are one of THE best informed and trained Natural Hoofcare Specialists there are. Of course, not all of you will go on to become Certified Level Natural Hoofcare Specialists (designating that the student has completed full classroom AND practical training directly pertaining to specific Level) or be able to find a mentor in your area for practical trimming but with the knowledge you will gain here you will have the best information and knowledge for the benefit of your own horse as well as to share with others - including your own farriers!   So, what you put into this field of study is directly related to what you will be able to share.

Thank you for your interest in helping to maintain your horse's hooves in the best, natural manner possible. The information contained in this course will enable you to be an integral part of your horse's overall health care.
